Raw Wildflower Comb Honey is honey that is meant for human consumption and remains in its original hexagonal-shaped beeswax cells, known as Honeycomb. It has not undergone any processing, filtering, or manipulation and is in the same state as it was when produced by honey bees.

When people ask if honeycomb can be eaten, they often express concerns about the wax. While we know that honey is safe for consumption, what about honeycomb? The answer is yes — honeycomb is safe to eat. It is a delightful natural treat that is both tasty and safe to enjoy, containing the honey as well as the waxy hexagonal shapes of the comb. Additionally, the waxy cells can be chewed like gum.

Honeycomb may also contain small amounts of bee pollen, propolis, and royal jelly —additional bee products that have their own potential health benefits.

What Does it Taste Like?

Raw Wildflower Honey has a mild and sweet taste and a slightly bitter and spicy aftertaste of linden flowers. The vibrant and joyful flavour instantly brings up summer sensations of walking barefoot in wild and blooming meadows.

Honey Facts & Benefits

Wildflower Honey is like a wild and blooming meadow in a jar. It consists of nectar from different summer wildflowers, as well as clover and linden nectar. One jar of honey may include the nectar of several dozen plants, so it has a wide range of beneficial properties. Every region and meadow has its unique taste due to the variety of flowers, soil characteristics, and other factors.

Raw Wildflower Honey is an excellent supplement to a healthy diet and a powerful remedy. Raw honey is loaded with vitamins C and B6, iron, calcium, thiamine, minerals, enzymes, and beneficial microorganisms. In addition, it has antibacterial and antiviral properties. For example, it works well as a cough, cold, and flu remedy and as a healing balm for minor wounds. It also calms the nervous system and has a soothing effect on digestion.

Common Uses

Honeycomb can be enjoyed on its own or spread on warm bread and English muffins. It also works well as a sweetener in desserts or as a topping for pancakes, oatmeal, and yogurt. Additionally, it pairs nicely with salads, fruits, charcuterie, or aged cheeses.

Notes & Tips:

  • Storage: honeycomb should be stored away from direct sunlight in a dry place at room temperature or below. Always ensure the lid is secured tightly. The longer you store it, the more likely it is to crystallize; however, crystallized honeycomb remains edible.
  • Crystallization: raw honey crystallizes over time, and it is a natural process, it don't impact the taste or the quality. Honey thickens and changes its state - it hardens and becomes grainy. Different types of honey crystallize differently. Some types of honey become very grainy and form larger crystals. Changes in color and structure (crystallization) are signs of raw, unpasteurized, and unprocessed honey.
  • Colour changes: please know that raw honey can vary in colour and taste from batch to batch - honey changes with the season and climate and depending on what the bees feed on.
  • Packaging: our Honeycomb honey is available in plastic boxes. The plastic boxes are made of BPA-free high-quality shatterproof plastic.
  • Safety Information: honey is inappropriate for children under the age of one year.
  • Product photos and videos are representative. Honey colour and texture may vary depending on the season and level of crystallisation.
